We had a wonderful short break in July stopping in the Glendorgal Hotel. During our 3 night break we found the staff welcoming, friendly and helpful. The location, views and access to local beaches was fantastic. Breakfast in the Brasserie was a pleasure looking out over Porth Beach and the headland...a really restful start to each day. Whilst we didn't get around to using the health club and spa facilities the staff were happy to give a short guided tour and all looked clean and well run. A return trip, hopefully a little longer, will be something to look forward to. Debbie & Adrian |

I found the view from the hotel breath taking. However the quality of customer service was not acceptable. When problems occured with our room the manager seemed unwilling to help. Again I did enjoy the views but the service was disgraceful |

We where asked by friends to join them as part of a group of 10 for a self catering break at this hotel. We where a bit wary as the tripadvisor info was a little varied (actually a lot varied ). Also Porth is close to Newquay and we had seen some pretty awful reports on TV and also also it was the 3rd week in sept and we where worried about the weather.
We where wrong on all counts! Weather was fantastic apart from just one wet afternoon. Newquay was much much nicer than we had expected. The centre was a bit touristy but it is a tourist resort, It is certainly nicer now than Padstow which is now just full of cheap shops and fast food outlets. For instance, Trenance gardens in Newquay are absolutely beautiful and not at all the TV image of the place.
The accommodation was super. The group was in 2 houses both with AMAZING ocean views. We shared a 2 bed house with our friends and the others shared a 3 bedder. One word of warning, all the self-catering houses have different owners so they do vary a bit. Our place was lovely with every thing we could possibly need but the other house was nicer with some extras like a DVD and satellite TV, and a very clever remote control flame-effect fire.
We had access to all of the hotels facilities - nice pool hot tub sauna etc. The food in the restaurant was super but perhaps the service was a bit slow - but not really a prob on holiday.
THE SURFING We decided to learn to surf and knew that Fistral Beach was about 2 miles away. One look at the huge waves at Fistral convinced us to look elsewhere. The very pleasant staff at the Glendorgal recommended the surf school at Lusty Glaze Beach which was literally 100yds away: super school and the beach has much better waves for beginners.
The Cribber!!! This is the name given to a special wave at Fistral beach. Its rare, huge and amazing. On the Thursday there was a 30 foot cribber running. It even made the front-pages of the national press on Friday. And no we didn’t try surfing in it.
So all in all we had a fantastic week and would highly recommend both the hotel and the self-catering houses.

We had a 2 night stay in Newquay in cold, rainy February, but had a lovely time due to the fab hotel!! We booked our room through the late rooms website - for £70 per room per night including breakfast for 2, which was a great saving on the hotel rate!
The room was fantastic: great decor (which was so well themed) & very spacious. Fab power shower in the bathroom and loved the Molten Brown products!! A lovely touch was the homemade cookies for us to tuck into on arrival to our room! Our only problem was that the carpet really hurts your feet (although it's perfect for the theme), so take some thick socks or slippers with you!!
The restaurant was lovely, although we ate out both nights, and the gym & pool facilities were great too!
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff were very polite & we cannot understand how it is only rated at 3* |

Spent New Year 2007 staying with friends in one of the beautifully appointed self-catering houses. The sea views across to Porth Island where amazing. So was New Year in Newquay!! 1000s of people nearly all in fancy dress. all so good natured. And an easy 20 min walk back afterwards. Had 2 excellent meals in The Watermark Brasserie - the shellfish was especially good. Loved the health club, loved the staff, loved every thing! A fabulous location, thankyou so much. |

On 30 September this year our daughter Bridget was married at this beautiful location to Jon Keating. Words to praise all the Glendorgal staff are hard to find, but in particular Rachel, Brendan and Rebecca deserve special mention for their dedicated hard work ensuring that Bridget and Jon's special day was such a joyous and happy one for everybody. Everything was perfect, it was lovely to have met you all and we hope all goes well for the future of Glendorgal and especially for yourselves. Our grateful thanks to you all.
